May – Norfolk’s Pilgrim Routes – Andy Bull
In the late Middle Ages, Norfolk attracted pilgrims from throughout the British Isles, and Europe. They travelled via Norwich or King’s Lynn, often headed for the shrine at Walsingham. Pilgrim routes crossed the county, linking Walsingham and other significant pilgrim points such as Bromholm Priory, St Benet’s Abbey, and Binham Priory.
Andy is a keen walker, author and pilgrim who in 2023 revived the medieval pilgrim route from London to Walsingham, publishing a guide to the path: The London to Walsingham Camino. Andy’s research uncovered many more forgotten pilgrim paths in Norfolk and these appear in Norfolk’s Pilgrim Routes.
Andy has also written a number of other county-based pilgrim guides and other travel pieces for The Times, the Daily Telegraph, The Independent, the Mail on Sunday and The Tablet.
Andy is going to bring a selection of his books to the meeting; including Norfolk’s Pilgrim Routes. He has generously offered these for sale at a discount and is happy to sign them.
Andy’s talk is on Saturday May 16th at 2.00pm at Needham Village Hall , High Road, Needham, IP20 9LB. All welcome, admission is £5.00 including fees, please book your tickets via TicketSource.
