September Meeting – Aerial Archaeology in Norfolk & Suffolk

For our meeting on September 16th we welcome Sophie Tremlett from the Norfolk Historic Environment Service who is going to talk to us about the role of aerial photography in archaeology with highlights from the Waveney Valley.

Sophie has the enviable job title of Senior Air Photo Interpretation Officer for Norfolk HES who have a fine collection of aerial photography dating back many years, some which we have used for some of our projects, including building surveys for Eighth in the East, the Hidden Commemoration and Dig the Spig, the excavation of one of the Harleston spigot mortar pits from the Second World War which we did last year.

We’ll be meeting at Needham Village Hall, High Road, Needham, IP20 9LB on Saturday 16th September at 2.00pm. The usual refreshments will be available, the final biscuit selection still to be announced.
