October Meeting – The Stonemasons’ Training Partnership
Our October meeting is on Saturday 24th at 2.00pm in Broome Village Hall.
The Stonemasons’ Training Partnership, based in St Clement’s Church in Norwich, started training apprentices to become master masons in the summer of 2014. The apprentices serve a seven year indenture under the supervision of a Master Mason of the Guild of St Stephen and St George, a guild in existence since 1096.
Since the training programme started, the apprentices have completed works in St Clement’s Church itself and at Norwich Cathedral, as well as individual pieces. Our talk this afternoon will give us an insight into how the programme works and how the apprentices, most of whom have no previous experience, will become highly skilled and sought after craftsmen and ultimately Master Masons themselves. You can find out more about the Stonemason’s Training Partnership here.
All welcome. Light refreshments will be available.
Broome Village Hall is in Sun Road, Broome, NR35 2RW.
Members £2.00, non-members £3.00
