What’s On September – December 2015

Here’ s our programme for the rest of this year, including a couple of talks which promise to be fascinating, some hands-on finds identification and festive frivolities, we hope you can make it to some or all of them.

September 11th – 13th Heritage Open Days
We’ll be in the Old Public Bar at the Swan Hotel on Friday 11th from 10.00 – 4.00 with our HLF funded Great War project The Hidden Commemoration in the Waveney Valley. Come and give us a look. We’d love to hear any family memories about the Great War, and if you’ve got any photographs, souvenirs or objects from the Great War please bring them along.

We’ll also be at the Tea and Memories afternoon at the Swan on Sunday 13th from 3.00 – 5.00. There’s more information about both events here. Click on Locations and select South Norfolk.

September 19th 2.00pm. Accident and Emergency in the Middle Ages with Dr Joy Hawkins
Joy Hawkins is a Tutor in History in the School of History, University of East Anglia.

September 26th 10.00 – 1.00. Hooray for Harleston 2015

October 24th 2.00pm The Stonemasons’ Training Partnership with Master Stephen
Master Stephen will tell us about the history & work of the Guild of St Stephen & St George (estd 1096) and the training programme for apprentice masons in Norwich

November 14th 2.00pm AGM, followed by fieldwalking finds identification
Ashley Pooley and Tim Holt-Wilson will help us identify the finds from our two fieldwalking trips to Syleham in October last year and February this year. The agenda for the AGM will be published nearer the date of the meeting.
