March meeting – The Paston Footprints 600 Project & The Hidden Commemoration.

We have had to postpone Lorna’s talk. We will reschedule it for a later date.

Instead our guest speaker, who many of you will recognise, will be the Project Manager for the Paston Footprints 600 project. The Paston Footprints project has been awarded £374,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund for a three year project to explore the lives, times and estates of the Paston family, principally in the C16th and early C17th. There will be opportunities for members to participate and learn many new skills and brush up on some old ones, including desktop research, building recording, photogrammetry, test pitting, LIDAR, geophys and 3D modelling.

We’ll also have a short update on our own Hidden Commemoration project, which hasn’t got quite as much Heritage Lottery funding.

Not entirely coincidentally this month marks the fifth anniversary of the group’s first meeting in a snow storm in Bungay. Our header pic this month shows that first meeting, captured for ever on someone’s Kodak Instamatic 33. We hope we’ve done snow for this year now, but to mark this auspicious anniversary we might splash out on a Swiss roll and some Battenberg cake.

We’re meeting on Saturday March 17th at 2.00pm at Needham Village Hall, High Road, Needham, IP20 9LB. All welcome. Members £2.00, non-members £3.00. There will of course be the usual refreshments as well as any extra anniversary treats.

      Hi,

Apologies for the delay. In fact, we had to postpone the Paston Footprints introduction due to the weather and it will now be on June 2nd. The Hidden Commemoration film is on show at Diss Museum.
